![]() ![]() ![]() In fact, casting for Atlas was just announced this week: Brandon Sklenar will take on the role, joining Justin Baldoni (Ryle) and Blake Lively (Lily). ![]() Luckily for superfans, the initial book in the series is getting a film adaptation very soon. Hoover released the long-awaited, highly anticipated sequel to 2016's "It Ends With Us," "It Starts With Us," in October 2022, and it continues Lily's journey, this time with glimpses at her first love Atlas's perspective. Her works deftly explore everything from dual perspectives of poignant romance, emotional family dynamics, and heartwarming friendships to sensitive issues such as sexual and domestic violence and trauma. The "All Your Perfects" author started her journey as a novelist a decade ago in 2012 with her self-published debut novel "Slammed." The New York Times bestseller has delivered over 20 pieces of fictional perfection since then. While creating authentic, rich, and relatable new-adult worlds with her words is somewhat of Hoover's forte, her recent foray into thriller-horror with her acclaimed books "Verity" and "Layla" exemplify her knack for expertly interweaving complex characters with spine-tingling, ominous tales. With the recent boom in BookTook's popularity and word-of-mouth, dozens of Colleen Hoover's books have shot straight to the bestselling list. ![]() ![]() While Capon has not asked for it any more than the orange peel could, anyone who surveys his body of known and lesser-known writings is sure to come away with an armful of ornaments destined for heavenly lighting fixtures. Capon’s point about the orange peel is that God’s judgment, made in the enthusiasm of love, is right and that such a recognition should move us to retrain our own attention and appreciation. He would have been ninety-five last month and with more than twenty published books to his name much of his work has already begun to circle the drain of human memory. ![]() Capon is known by many for his food writing but all of his work is shot through with his Chestertonian view of God as a jovial Romantic. Robert Farrar Capon imagines God himself rescuing the orange peel from the trash to hang it lovingly from his chandelier, and the picture has become my mind’s stock image for the often-inexplicable affection shown by the creator to his creation.įr. What at times seems fit only for the cosmic garbage heap, however, is often cherished in hand and given pride of place by a doting Father. ![]() Who hasn’t known the utter satisfaction of removing-or watching another’s studied thumb remove-the peel of an orange in one long, inviolate spiral? Once the first water test comes back to the ship with some blood in the sample, the story really takes off. As they set sail, the suspense begins to grow. The fateful events of this tale were what prompted the second trip ( covered in Into The Drowning Deep) out to the same area.Īt just 128 pages, this tale begins with a sense of dread. ![]() Little do they know, they’re about to get exactly what they wished for, but these mermaids aren’t the cute Disney type. My Thoughts on Rolling In The Deep by Mira Grant ![]() This tale takes place before the full length novel, Into the Drowning Deep. Rolling In The Deep by Mira Grant is a horror novella that really packs a punch! ![]() ![]() The project is literally loaded with people having fun talking about where food and one of the nation’s most historic neighborhoods intersect. You hear Samuelsson, his culinary friends, his team, and important voices in the Harlem community. Samuelsson calls the book a “kitchen listen” - a riff on The Red Rooster Cookbook that forgoes dry recipe readings in favor of an eclectic, dynamic performance. Nowhere is this so evident as with the release of Our Harlem – Seven Days Of Cooking, Music, And Soul At The Red Rooster. His desire to highlight new voices and spread love in a historically cloistered industry. His incredible importance to food culture in America is also thanks to his spirit of inclusion. ![]() ![]() This doesn’t simply come from his incredible string of successes in the kitchen (Aquavit, Red Rooster, Streetbird Rotisserie), his high-visibility TV projects (he’s a judge on Chopped and hosts No Passport Required on PBS), or even his Beard-Award winning writing (he’s authored New American Table, The Soul of a New Cuisine, Marcus Off Duty, The Red Rooster Cookbook, Yes, Chef, and Make it Messy: My Perfectly Imperfect Life) - though the degree of his success is undeniable. Marcus Samuelsson is a lion of the modern food scene. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() I listened to the audio version of this story.
